The federation of Jesuit alumni was established in 2003, 24th of February during the constituent assembly of Vilnius Jesuit alumni association and Kaunas Jesuit alumni association. The Federation is not a superior organization but an institution designed to coordinate communication and mutual projects.
Lithuanian Federation of Jesuit Alumni became a competent member of the European Confederation of Jesuit Alumni in 2003, 26th of April in Barcelona. It is not registered in the Centre of Registries as its activity is more symbolic and meant to be a means of coordination.
During the constituent assembly these decisions were made:
- Federation will implement these duties:
§ Coordinate mutual projects in national as well as international levels
§ Plan mutual projects and events
§ Form mutual values and priorities
§ Represent both associations
- Federation will have these positions:
· The President of the Jesuit alumni federation.
Simonas Petrulis became the first president for the term of tree years as he actively took part not only in the creation of the federation but also in the establishment of the Jesuit alumni association of Kaunas.
· Two Vice-Presidents.
These positions are automatically filled by the presidents of both associations. In the year 2003 Martynas Lukoševičius (Vilnius Jesuit Alumni Association) and Ramūnas Maruniakas (Kaunas Jesuit Alumni Association) became the first two vice-presidents.
· Secretary
· Treasurer
· Five project coordinators
The Latin noun alumnus (pl. alumni) means "foster son, pupil" and is derived from the verb alere - "to nourish".
Every student, who has finished a Jesuit gymnasium (i.e. high school) or university and was educated with the tradition of Ignatian spirituality is called an alumnus.
What is an alumnus like?
- Trying to strengthen his relation to God, able to envisage his print in his own experience.
- Proud of belonging to the Jesuit community, with respect to its values and his teachers.
- Joyful, friendly, confident, with a sense of humor and aware of the presents that God has given to him.
- Ready to share his talents with people in need.
- Trying to understand better and better who Christ really is.
- Well prepared to find his place in the community without striving for prestige or selfish ambitions and aware of how he can contribute to the general well-being.
- Determined to ask himself in any circumstances of life: “What more can I do? How else can I help?”
The jesuit alumni embrace these mottos (by Ignatius Loyola):
En todo amar y servir (To love and serve all)
Magis (More)
Ad maiorem Dei gloriam (For the greater glory of God)
Where are more alumni in the world?
Jesuit alumni are concentrated around most of the Jesuit schools of the world. They have local organisations, which are united to national ones. National alumni organisations unite to become regional organisations or one worldwide organisation. See ECJA and WUJA.

Jesuit Alumni in Lithuania
The vision of Lithuanian Federation of Jesuit Alumni (LFJA) is to gather students in Lithuania who are raised according to the values of Ignatius Loyola to a community that started to form in Vilnius and Kaunas gymnasiums.
LFJA's mission is to help preserve the Christian spirituality in the alumni community and extend high quality education. Also to maintain a relationship with members of the Jesuit community of Lithuania as well as with the ones from foreign countries and try to find ways to support the Jesuit community, Jesuit schools and the Christian Church.
